Life settlement brokers are the go-between people for life insurance owners who want to sell their policy for cash NOW and the financial institutions or "funders" who want to buy the policies.

To broker a life settlement is a process that can have tremendous benefit for you if you decide that it is best to sell your policy - instead of letting it lapse, you can basically get a cash windfall which you can then use in numerous ways, such as using the funds to purchase an annuity or long term care insurance.

So, to broker life settlement, how do you decide who you want to represent you?

The best idea is to do some research and check what each broker has to say about themselves:

Is this person a professional?
Does he know or care about me and my family?
What does this person know about why I bought the policy?

Life settlements is the process of selling an unwanted or unneeded life insurance policy to a financial institution

Why should you do it?

You should not do it if you still have a need for the protection; if you don't still need the protection, you can sell for 3-4 times the cash surrender value of the policy (sometimes more).

You can even sell a term policy

The amount you get is really negotiable and you need a person on your team to get you the maximum available.

Most states don't regulate this activity and you need to do business
with a person who has your best interests in mind
